Tutorial: RED ONE Post Workflow
This is a quick run through of the 'a' post production workflow when using the Red camera. Although we used Final Cut Studio 3 for the second half of this video, as long as you follow the first half, it can easily be adapted to Avid or any other non-linear editing software for both PC and Mac.
Some issues that I've run into when using the RED camera and bring into a post environment, was getting the same video output that we saw on the on-set monitor that we see in the editing suite. Because we are shooting with RAW, their are a lot of adjustable pre-sets before shooting with the RED. Just like any other DSLR camera that shoot RAW, Although you are seeing it a certain way in the monitor, that is not "exactly" what the RAW image is. These pre-set are available to be downloaded from the camera to your computer threw a memory card, so when you are viewing your media, it bases the pre-color treatment off those pre-sets. THAT STEP IS USUALLY FORGOTTEN. This tutorial will guide you threw how to figure out your original presetting to be able to work with.
Remember this is 'A' post workflow for the RED camera, it's not THE post workflow, their is none. BUT I have found this way very satisfying and easy. Have any questions feel free to leave comments.
P.S. This is my first tutorial for my site, so forgive the "ummm" & "ahhhh".
