As someone that was always good at picturing things internally, I didn’t realize the minority I was and how much 3D Rendering truly assist others.
Renderings give us as true of view to reality as we can be without putting a hammer to a nail. I looked at previous sketches done before my time at Production Plus and the warmth that these hand drawn sketches had compared to my 3D renders were uncanny. But we are now much closer to that uncanny valley that our renders are used as preliminary build drawings, we can now show exactly what we will physically give a client.
Printing is a medium that has never gone away since its inception. Even in a digital age, print small & large will always be around.

Scale is so important, it tells us if we are looking at a toy or a statue. Virtual Reality solves this and something anyone understand instantly.
I found out very quickly in my career the 3D object I just build on my 24” monitor is unknown till you have scale. VR is the first solution I’ve seen that instant solves this for anyone. When you see someone looking from the floor to the ceiling in a sweeping motion, you know they understand.
The first time you use Augmented Reality, you’re not quite sure what you’re looking at. It’s in your world, but not.
Although VR is the most immersive, AR is that in-between between the 3D render design and the physical creation of that object. We can very quickly understand how something will work in a space and most people can achieve this with the device in there pocket.

In the time of social distancing, Virtual Production is how we will bring the feeling of large events into our home. And it will be in real-time.
Going away are the days of Green Screen post-production and long render times. With GPU and Real-time Render Engines making a huge leap forward, with the help of Unreal Engine and others, what once took hours can now be done twenty-four times a second.
Film is a universal expression, there are few mediums that exist that can makes us feel the way a good movie feels.
Film is something that has held the test of time. We have interaction, we have cinematic video games, any experience we’ve ever wanted is closer then it’s ever been to more people. Yet there is nothing like sitting with friends & family and being entranced in a compelling story.
